The Green Bandana Project is a student-driven movement dedicated to preventing suicide by promoting help-seeking behavior and increasing awareness of mental health resources on college campuses.

The bandana is the symbol of the project, signifying that a student carrying a bandana is:

An advocate for mental health
A trusted source of support 
Knowledgeable of mental health and suicide prevention resources 

Join the Green Bandana Project at WashU

After a short orientation and basic suicide prevention training (QPR and Kognito), student participants can attach or display a WashU-customized green bandana on their backpack, bag, or person, signifying they have pledged to be a safe individual to approach for mental health and suicide prevention resources at WashU. 

How to become an ambassador: 

  1. Complete the self-paced online orientation.

2.  Complete the two required suicide prevention trainings (QPR and Kognito) and save your certificates as pdfs.

3. Complete this google form by uploading your two completion certificates from above and answering the orientation questions. 

4. Go to the Zenker Wellness Suite (Sumers Rec 303) to receive your bandana and resource cards.
